You are the main character of this story.
The name Sidewalk Blooming is a tribute to flowers that have busted through the concrete and insisted on blooming in unlikely places. You’ve seen these wild ones before and probably thought how did you do that here?! They’re a reminder that surprising brightness is possible even in garbage conditions. And. After the first bloom, the seeds can travel to new soil that makes deep, rich growth more possible. Perfect conditions not required to begin.
So, if we can start here, now, in this timeline, with all that you are and have experienced, what will therapy look like? Great question. You are the one who can grow magic even after hard times in hard places. And I’m your garden consultant. You probably have ideas about why life feels hard right now. Often it’s things like: thoughts that don’t stop, really big feelings, relationship struggles, rage at what’s happening in the world, a loud inner critic that just won’t shut up, or career/school. Or maybe everything just feels like a big, confusing mess and you’re worried about what happens if you don’t sort it out. I know things are getting worse globally AND they’ve been bad for many for a long time.
You’re the one who will take the steps to get through the tough stuff, but nobody was meant to struggle alone forever, and that’s where I come in. I help you untangle the worries and painful stuff and make something new and how to keep doing that in community.
I create a space for you to figure out what’s happening and what you want to grow next. We’ll have an initial consultation meeting, then make some goals, and then weekly sessions. After that, we work on skills and tools to build the next part of your life, and we look at ways to connect you with supportive people and communities. With time and practice, things improve, even if they aren’t perfect. My hope is that you end our time together more confident and connected than when you arrived.
Important note:
I work best with people who are ready to make changes and who want to incorporate an understanding of larger systems into the individual work of therapy. Individual work can absolutely serve the collective and vice versa. This can be as slow, winding, and relational as your spirit and body need, but if you are only looking for a listening ear, I’m not the right fit!
